The ASUP has issued a one-month strike deadline.

Image
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has issued a one month ultimatum to government for resumption of strike action. The union had suspended its industrial action which ran for 61 days in June 2021 after reaching an agreement with the government. The union stated this while addressing journalists in Yola at the end of its 102nd National Executive Council meeting. ASUP’s national president, Anderson Uzeibe, said the decision became necessary after the government failed to implement important aspects of the memorandum of action signed with the union nine months ago. Uzeibe stated that the government was yet to release the sum of N15 billion as the first tranche of the N800 billion revitalisation fund nine months after the approval by President Muhammadu Buhari. Uzeibe warned that so long as the government and other proprietors in the polytechnic system continue to violate laws and signed agreements, the union would not hesitate to down tool, saying industrial action had become

Vladimir Putin 'cannot stay in power.' Joe Biden says in his speech in Warsaw

Image
When Joe Biden claimed in a furious address today in Poland that Vladimir Putin the Russian president "cannot remain in power," it raised some eyebrows. Despite Biden's foreign policy being strongly against a US-involved regime change, others believed that statement came perilously near to pushing for one. His statement was quickly retracted by the White House, which stated that his message "was that Putin cannot be permitted to exercise control over his neighbors or the area." This latest event is sure to raise some eyebrows in Moscow as well: according to a White House readout, Biden spoke with Belarusian democratic opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on Air Force One. During the call, Biden praised Tsikhanouskaya for coming to his Warsaw speech and for her support "reiterated the United States' commitment to the Belarusian people in safeguarding and enhancing human rights, particularly freedom of expression and free and fair elections."

PDP Is Still Behaving Like a Nollywood Party

Mr. Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that while in opposition, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demonstrates a tremendous lack of foresight. As a significant opposition party, the PDP, according to Okechukwu, "has continued to entertain Nigerians with tales by moonlight as if it were a Nollywood cast," adding that "nothing about the party implies any genuine challenge to the governing party." On Thursday, he told media that the PDP's pitiful blame game against the APC following their meeting left a lot to be desired, noting that the opposition party was on the verge of dissolution, as prophesied by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.  Recently, Okechukwu, who is also the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (DG, VON), described the PDP governors' meeting in Aba as a "jamboree," adding that the party's claim that the APC is unfit to run in the general elections in 2023 is wis

“Davido will never deny his child” – Reactions as Davido’s alleged fourth baby mama, Larissa London celebrates son’s 2nd birthday

Image
Cybernauts have reacted as Davido’s alleged fourth baby mama, Larissa London celebrates her son, Dawson’s 2nd birthday today.   The London-based make-up artist and model took to her Instagram story to share a photo of her son which triggered several reactions. It should be noted that during the heat of the saga,  Davido  didn’t admit being the father of Dawson neither did he debunk any romantic relationship with Larissa London. This however left a lot of netizens confused. Also, recall that a DNA result which allegedly claimed that  Davido is the father of the boy surfaced along the line . Reacting to the recent photo shared by Larissa, many have described Davido as a loving father while affirming that he wouldn’t deny the boy if he was actually his.

APC Owes An Apology

Just As Wike, APC Owes Oshiomhole An Apology By Dr. Mohammed Sani Funtua (PhD)  Within the space of a week, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sacked and restored its interim leadership chaired by the absentee Yobe Governor, Mr. Mai Mala Buni. Days after Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State imperiously declared the end of his disastrous reign on national television, with the assurance that new actors enjoying the President’s backing will now assume control of the party’s affairs, Governor Mai Mala Buni caught a plane to London and the result was a letter signed by the President himself which effectively poured ice-cold water on El-Rufai’s confident claims. Mai Mala Buni is going nowhere, apparently. He has become the bone hung around the dog’s neck that can neither be eaten nor shaken off. The placeholder who will not surrender command even if his stay evidently does more harm than good. Not even the revelation that he conspired with certain elements in the party to surreptiti

IMT Is Already A Degree Awarding Institution, Courtesy Of Ugwuanyi's Administration

Ekweremadu, So You Don't Know That IMT Is Already A Degree Awarding Institution, Courtesy Of Ugwuanyi's Administration  By Nkemjika Mbah It is quite unfortunate and surprising that the Senator representing Enugu West zone, former Deputy Senate President and 2023 governorship aspirant in Enugu, Senator Ike Ekweremadu is not conversant with the giant strides, developments and progresses so far made in various sectors in a state he is from and aspiring to govern.     This was exposed and made clear in what Ekweremadu presented at a media Parley in Best Western Hotel Independence Layout Enugu on March, 11, 2022 titled a path to new Enugu, where he as usual tried to bamboozle the people by playing to the gallery without anything meaningful or tangible to show, apart grandstanding and self aggrandizement.    The document which looked more like his governorship manifesto is hollow, theoretical, repetitive and misleading.    In the presentation, Ekweremadu said he will make Institut
